I give the D&AD a fair amount of stick, for what I think are the right reasons (Branding 2.0? Initially self-published in the late summer of 2005 by ES books (see what he did there?) Open Mic was awarded a D&AD for photo book publishing. His book design teams up with its reader. These were my submissions for the UWE D&AD invitations. The copy reflects the character of the brand and the consistency at every point is spot on. The highly acclaimed Copy Book on how advertisers create texts won him this years D&AD Award. The information on these is not correct for 2010, it is copied it from last years invite. But this post is to praise them heartily for something. Designed by the legendary Phil Bicker. Despite not being prolific, the winners who get to go 'in book' (that's the D&AD annual – soooo expensive), did pretty well. We are down to the last 100 copies.
